Developing Minds is an exciting, stimulating, and
comprehensive enrichment program for elementary school
students. We offer a variety of creative and challenging
after-school courses which are designed to develop and
strengthen critical-thinking skills, foster self-confidence,
and develop an inherent desire for learning.
K Through 6th Grade Class Pods
This class gives students a chance to get academic support with a credentialed teacher. Create a small group of friends for tutoring at your home. Teachers support students with school curriculum and are ready to provide remediation and challenges, as needed. This is a perfect addition to summer plans because we can coordinate tutoring around your schedule in the convenience of your home.
Private or semi-private Tutoring
Find a buddy for remediation or enrichment. Teachers support students with school curriculum or can provide their own curriculum for remediation and enrichment.
Children’s Book Clubs
Book clubs are designed for children who enjoy reading and analyzing stories. The class focus will include a vocabulary discussion, reading comprehension, and development of personal opinions. Book syllabus will be provided by Developing Minds, but book purchase and reading are done outside of class. For middle school students, syllabus will be based on the district summer reading requirements. Themed-based snacks are an enjoyable way to further enhance the stories. Book clubs are a fun way for students to do required reading for school. Most book clubs meet once a month or bi-monthly during the school year. This is also an easy and engaging way to complete middle school required summer reading.
Parent / Student Coaching
Are you a parent of an elementary or middle school student struggling with communication, social situations, or academic challenges? As an educator for almost 30 years and a mother of a 17 year old junior at Mira Costa High School and college sophomore at Cornell University, I know what you’re experiencing! I offer personalized coaching to help both parents and kids navigate the ups and downs of school life. Together we’ll build stronger relationships, brainstorm challenges, improve study habits, and tackle obstacles that may be standing in the way of success. Whether it’s managing stress, navigating friendships, boosting motivation, or fostering independence, I’m here to guide you and your child toward a smoother, more confident journey through school. Let’s work together to make learning a positive experience for everyone. 50 minute Zoom sessions can be with just parents, just kids, or a combination of both. $275 per session.
